With the aim of expanding the range for mulitfunctional applications, Pokolm Frästechnik GmbH & Co. KG from Harsewinkel (Germany) has recently added to the products it supplies to the field of milling cutting bodies for round inserts and the Slotworx® M square shoulder and slot milling cutters to include innovative cutting materials.
As such, round inserts are now available with an extra thick and wear-resistant PVD coating (PVGO) in 10 and 12 mm variants. Equipped in such a way, the inserts are exceptionally well suited to machining tool steels with medium strengths. Even with extreme feed rates, extended cutting depths, severely interrupted cuts and long projecting lengths, the inserts have proved themselves to be reliable and accurate when used in processing applications.
Two ground inserts for the hard processing of materials (up to 60+2HRC) with a high feed now make the range of applications for Slotworx® M corner and groove millers even more flexible. The PVTi/PVTiH coating inserts have an adjusted cutting face geometry and are characterised by extremely long service lives and a particularly quiet operation. In addition, the PVTiH coated insert is ideally suited for processing silicon alloy materials such as 1.2714.
