Optimised solutions for the manufacturing process
BORBET alloy wheels are manufactured in a permanent mould casting process. To be able to guarantee high manufacturing quality and flexibility, the moulds are produced in BORBET’s own tool shop, where absolute priority is given to maximum process reliability – further improvement of this reliability was the challenge set for POKOLM.

Having listened to the prerequisites, the technical customer advisor from POKOLM drew attention to the SPINWORX® end mill with self-rotating inserts – an innovative milling system which also defines new yardsticks for the minimisation of machine standstill and non-productive times. Of the multitude of different sizes and cutter materials available, a threaded shank end mill in system size DR07 with a 25 mm diameter and r 3.5 inserts matched to the workpiece material emerged as the ideal combination. In this configuration, the SPINWORX® system is the optimum solution for BORBET’s tool-making needs. The objective of absolute process reliability was achieved, and the impressively smooth operation also met with unequivocal satisfaction.
